Closure of the Multi-purpose Room 2 in the Learning Garden
The Multi-purpose Room 2 in the Learning Garden will be closed and the online booking service for this room will be deactivated from 19 December 2016 (Monday).

New 3D Printer Available in the Learning Garden
The Library is pleased to announce that new 3D printers, (Tinkerine Ditto Pro 3D Printer), have been installed in the Learning Garden of the University Library.
The 3D printing service commenced in 2014 in the Learning Garden. Over the past two years, the demand for 3D printing has increased significantly. The total weight of 3D models printed has increased from 3,482 grams in 2014/15 to 8,072 grams in 2015/16.
The Ditto Pro 3D printer is designed with an open C frame, which is made of a single piece of aluminum. This printer operates quietly with extremely low decibels to meet the learning environment in the Learning Garden. With these new 3D printers, more colour filaments will be offered including WHITE, GREEN, BLUE, ORANGE, RED and BLACK.

Library Workshops: Assignment Season Series (Oct to Nov 2016)
All CUHK undergraduate students are welcome to attend the following library workshops. Postgraduate students are also welcome to attend if they wish. If you have the Digital Literacy Card that the Library sent out earlier in September, attending the following sessions can be counted towards the Digital Literacy Certificate Course.
Students, in groups of ten or more, can request library courses to suit their information needs and schedules.
Program 1: Develop an Effective Search Strategy for Your Assignment
This workshop covers the following to help you to:
- Understand your reading lists, the difference between primary and secondary sources
- Expand the range of your search terms by using similar concepts and synonyms
- Use advanced search techniques such as Boolean Operators, truncation, filter, etc.

Program 4: Understanding and Avoiding Plagiarism
This workshop introduces the concept of plagiarism with real world examples and explains what should and should not be done when citing references in academic writing.

Program 5: Acknowledging the Sources – RefWorks 3.0 Hands-on Experience
This workshop demonstrates how to use RefWorks, a web-based bibliography management tool, to produce bibliographies and in-text references in a variety of citation styles (e.g. MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.).

The CUHK Library has recently subscribed to the database Sustainable Organization Library (SOL).
SOL contains hundreds of case studies and research on best practice from international organizations on topics including sustainability, responsible business, ethics, corporate governance, development economics and the environment.
